As your State Senator, Jesse wants what you want. Good roads, effective schools, strong public safety and fiscal stability for the state. Alaska’s state government must prioritize Constitutional mandates and focus on infrastructure that allows Alaskans to build a meaningful life for themselves and their families.

Looking forward, securing affordable energy, helping Alaskans address the impacts of inflation, and an accountable education system are of extreme importance.

  • reduce middle management to focus Department of Transportation resources on the roads

Effective Schools

  • Implement higher K-12 and University Admissions Standards

  • Prioritize vocational training and life-long skills that support informed and able citizens

Emerging Issues

Energy

We must take an all of the above approach to producing electricity and heat for our homes and businesses. The Legislature must act in coordination with the Governor and Industry to secure a reliable supply of natural gas for southcentral Alaska. Now is the time to maximize effort to produce and store natural gas in Cook Inlet and complete a pipeline project to bring natural gas to the Railbelt from the North Slope.

Inflation

The cost of groceries and utilities is straining the pocketbooks of Kenai Peninsula families. We cannot allow the government to drive costs up more by taxing goods and services. As your State Senator I am firmly committed to doing everything possible to block new taxes and lower the cost of living.

Fish

I strongly believe that we must responsibly manage the seafood resources we rely on for our livelihoods, food and recreation. The fishing practices we allow must be sustainable. As your State Senator and part of the Legislative Seafood Taskforce, I am applying pressure to the trawl industry to clean up its act. We must protect our stocks of King Salmon, Crab, and Halibut before it’s too late.
